Tipping the Guides & Porters
A respected tradition on every Kilimanjaro climb — here is what we recommend.
Tipping is a respected tradition on every Kilimanjaro climb. We recommend a tip of between US $190 and US $250 per climber to the mountain crew at the end of the climb. The exact amount depends on group size and how many days you spend on the mountain. We suggest giving the tip to the main guide, who then distributes it among the crew — and we recommend not paying any tips until you and all your gear have safely descended.

These are guidelines, not fixed fees. Tip what feels fair for the service you received — your crew works extremely hard to get you safely to the summit and back.
